Awareness of far reaching consequences of using fossil fuel as energy sources is spreading. Global warming as we know it is blueprinted in many minds, inevitably rising the question of what is being done to reduce its adverse impact on the planet. What is being done to stop ice-shields from melting, oceans from polluting further, ozone holes from expanding? What is being done to preserve Antarctic wild-life?
Not a day passes by without media drawing our attention to one or more green living issues, whether it be climate change, organic agriculture, renewable sources etc. Governments across the Globe seem to be rattling about the current energy situations, steering towards renewable sources, such as wind, hydro and sun energy but not doing enough for bigger impact to take place.
As a matter of fact, renewable sources contribute trifling amounts of current U.S. energy use. Since the year 2000, solar and wind power have increased approximately 30 percent per year. At that rate, solar power doubles in about three-and-a-half years.. So, how much has the solar grown since 2000? In 2000, it was 0.07 percent of total U.S. energy use. That is less than one-tenth of 1 percent of the power Americans consume. In five years, solar has grown to 0.28 percent. Use of Solar and wind power have continued to grow and have increase four times since 2000. They now attribute with 1 percent contribution to our total energy use.
One barely known and re-emerging power source, still a subject of heavy polemics is magnetic energy. For decades any related information was wrapped up in a thick wool of conspiracy or strongly opposed by individuals, corporations and governments. Their synchronized voice hypnotized masses into belief that: ‘impossible was impossible’.
Nikola Tesla, however, at the wake of the twentieth century, was not only able to harness usable power from the Earth’s natural magnetic field, he also managed to broadcast it wirelessly. Tesla is not only unfairly forgotten genius but the idea of utilizing magnetic field for power has been suppressed whenever it re-emerged, until recently.
Only lately, due to severity of the impact of our current power system on the planet as well as the energy crisis itself, information controlling iron hand has loosened a bit.
Even though a lot has been said about the crisis itself, one still gets the sense that confusion, oppression and the lack of direction is where we are. The world is in the middle of this complex maize, not quite knowing how we got in there and not quite certain of how to get out.
